Alma Miel is a joven — Don Julio's añejo blended with a cristalino that was finished in casks that held agave honey, then finished in French oak — named for the soul of honey. In 1942 a young Julio González took a loan to open La Primavera in Atotonilco el Alto, in the Los Altos highlands, and built Mexico's original luxury tequila; Diageo owns it today, still made at NOM 1449, and Alma Miel launched in 2023 as the house's first joven. It's 100% mature highland blue Weber agave, slow-cooked in brick ovens and double-distilled; the añejo component is aged in ex-bourbon American oak, the cristalino component is aged and then finished in casks seasoned with cooked-agave honey, and the blend rests in French oak before bottling at 40% ABV in a squat, amber-glass bottle. Expect a nose of honey, cooked agave, vanilla, and a floral sweetness, opening into a rich, rounded, sweet palate of agave nectar, caramel, toasted oak, and a faint French-oak spice with a long, smooth finish. Honest note: this is Don Julio at its sweetest and most dessert-like — built for the drinker who loves 1942 and wants something new, and priced in that tier; agave purists will find it a lot of honey. Neat, chilled, or on a big cube after dinner. The soul of honey.Buy Don Julio Alma Miel Joven Tequila online with fast shipping right to your door.
